Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.
