The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
The first season introduces a diverse group of personalities living within the afterlife, pits them against each other accompanied by songs detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner commented recently. "But I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans make a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
